The Food and Wine Lovers Circuit

I didn’t have time to post more while travelling but we arrived home yesterday after a great trip which we have termed the above which might seem odd for two people who don’t drink.

Of course, MPS added the class to the tour by cooking up a storm each night in the camper and taking us for a tour of the Barossa Valley.  She tasted at a multitude of wineries while we sipped lattes in the adjoining cafes and studied up on the art of vinification by reading all the wall plaques at some of the great wineries like Wolf Blass and Jacob’s Creek and McGuigan’s etc

The first three wineries we fronted up to and she was into it like a oenophile possessed and bought bottles at all three which had me thinking where’s all this going to go in an already loaded car.  Not to fear, a dozen bottles fitted into every nook and cranny and we had a great couple of days based at Nuriootpa in this beautiful area of Oz.

We even got to buy up at Angas Park Fruit Co.,eat at great bakeries, sample great cheeses and even have time for a visit to Maggie Beer’s restaurant (forget it) and take in a lavender farm which always excites the girls.  I detested lavender bushes when meter reading because people loved planting them under meter boxes and bees love them things.

We only had one night in Adelaide and decided to decamp early because what’s another big city and the Barossa seemed more appealing. After the Barossa, we drove 400k’s back to Victoria and spend a couple of days in the Little Desert National Park before heading to the Grampians and home.

If you can bear 300 odd photos, a slideshow here or the Gallery here.

I’ll follow you anywhere! If that takes me to a vinyard . . . bonus!

You’d be in paradise in the Barossa Valley.
