The Titanic

The hoons around town have been having a merry time of late.  I noticed a ute overturned in a ditch along Thacker St and the same guy must have gone to the river with his mate later for a spot of aquatic donuts and then tipped his tinny over.

I pulled up on the bike to join the throngs watching these characters vainly trying to salvage the Titanic.  One of the locals living on the river said they were hooning up and down the river and managed to flip it on a sandbank and hurl themselves out to the amusement of the onlookers.  She was in stitches telling me that the tide was on the turn and how one idiot floated downstream and the other in the opposite direction.

When I enquired of their well-being, she said with a chuckle, “Oh, they both drowned!”

She was only kidding of course but they were on a fast track to a Darwin Award nomination anyway.

Incidentally, yesterday was the 99th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

Men and their toys they are not really happy until they break them. SO had a boat for a while, I went on it once, after that one trip I realized he was all out on a self-destruction bender, no more boat trips for me. Didn’t want to be Monday’s newspaper headline: “ELDERLY WOMAN DIES IN BOAT FLIPPING INCIDENT, SIGNIFICANT OTHER AT FAULT. Police say no charges will be filed, since killing the cook is sufficient punishment for the elderly man.”

Have you thought about writing your own blog? You have all the qualities, an excellent grasp of English and a vivid imagination. 😀

I suppose a hoon is just an upside down knucklehead??

Joke- What was the last thing the snow boarder said before he died?

    “Watch this, dude.”

No, that would be a “nooh”

(So cool you can edit comments after you post them!)

What’s ever cooler is that I get an email telling me what mistake you made so be carefully changing your mind after slagging me off. 😀

Seems like a couple of mug lairs to me.

Do they still use that down there, or perhaps it was/is a regional term.

Lair is more for the flashy dressed, outrageous young idiot. Hoon is short for hooligan used more for the young louts of low IQ doing burn-outs in the cars and graffiti writing in their spare time, which, incidentally, they have an abundance of. Time, that is; not brains.

And it’s Easter and they’re back! Look out for more trouble over the holiday break …

I’ll try and avoid them like the plague
