We’ve had one of the wettest winters in a few years which has tended to stymie our biking, but earlier in the week, we had a ride along the Rail Trail into Geelong and around the Barwon River.

Well, that was the plan………………….

Will I, won't I? Anyone for a picnic?

Not today, thanks. Damn, where can I find somewher to sit?

We could ride here a bit

In 1952, the water was touching just under the road of the 2nd bridge in the distance so this was no monster flood.

Of course, when a certain moron thinks the water in picture 1 is shallow enough to plow through, then this is the consequence.

So is there water in that Bonnie Doon lake place thinghamy from “The Castle” yet? I drove past it a year or two ago and it was totally empty. Quite a disappointment!

Yes, Lake Eildon is filling fast and they reckon people will be water skiing there again this summer.

Does this mean that the Great Australian Drought is over?

Not sure when you could say it’s over. Our water storages are 46% and it depends on how much spring rain we get before we can say whoopee. The farmers are are going cock-a-hoop at the moment and they reckon it will be the best wheat crop in years if a locust plague doesn’t eventuate.

    Who was the “certain moron”?

G’day Phil. Long time, no see. Of course, some bugger did have to ask that question. You didn’t reckon I would call Linda a “moron” did you?<

We have had 128mm rain so far this month! The Kiewa River has been in minor flood for a few weeks! Big smiles all around.

Big smiles down here too as the catchments are getting a real top-up.

I guess you better learn to water ski or walk on water.

Well I tried to ride on water but that didn’t work either.

You’ve got water, we’ve got (yes, again) fire.

It sure be smoky here today…

And it will be our turn in January. No water and plenty of fire.

Arizona has a stupid motorist law, if you try to cross a flooded arroyo, or if you pass a barricade to cross a wash, you have to pay for your own rescue. Even with that law, people still get washed away during monsoon season.
