Juror No 27

November 23, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

Thirty eight of us bundled into a room and told it was to be a County Court civil trial with a jury of 6.

Still fiddling the digits fifteen minutes past the court time, I suspected foul play and this potential juror was duly correct.  The “postponed” means they settled beforehand and we were patted on the head and sent on our way.  Begs the question why these jokers can’t settle their differences before we leave home.

We were then told they might need us for another civil trial on Tuesday and ring beforehand or else we would be corralled for a criminal trial on Wednesday.  If you don’t get on that one, you are let loose for good.

I surveyed my fellow jurors and the most sensitive description I can give is that are certainly a cross section of society.

As my good old mum used to say, don’t judge a feral by it’s cover.

I see your justice system works as well as ours. Probably who you know.

June – Works okay but sentencing sucks at times. Maybe we could start with this for graffiti and work our way up.

Very informative, i always thought it was a horse attached to each limb(which the French did) but the English as usual went way out.

Both sound like a good deterrent!

I always thought the best punishment for a graffiti artist was to hold off punishment until the convicted purchased his first house or a new car, then the people who’s property was spray painted would be given the opportunity to spray paint the artist’s new purchase. It seems only fair when teenagers disrespect someone’s property, that his/her property should suffer the same fate. It’s only a thought…

AZ – A very good thought. I’d like you with me on the jury tomorrow.

Hey bro just caught up with your photos of the Everest walk. Really liked that airport at Lukla -uphill and all and that twin otter and that downed Russian gunship and those amazing mountain scenes. Wow what a trip.

Hey, DB Jnr. That was 2006. You have some catching up to do. Good to hear from you.

Since you might be off doing your civil duty for a while, can I post my post-stair climb entry?

    See the latest.
