Death Trap 1

8am Sunday morning at the beach.  Car park full.  People everywhere.

8am Monday morning at the beach.  Car park empty.  Very few people around.

Damn, I love retirement!

Even better, the water was a lot warmer this morning after our run and what a difference from Saturday.  If you think I was exaggerating about how cold it was, have a read of paragraphs 5 and 6 from today’s local rag.

And he was only 27!

For a quiet little town you have a lot of excitement.

June – We have about 12,000 people living here and a lot more pour down from Geelong and Melbourne on hot days so gets quite busy.

Hmm. Policemen in their underwear. Not the best look…

    Gutsy lifesaver though….

What I don’t get is why don’t people in trouble/caught in a rip just lay on their back and float etc. One can stay afloat for hours if you do that… Then once out of the rip slowly paddle/swim back to shore….

T – I was caught in a rip as a teenager and it was quite frightening. It takes a lot to stop panicking and a body boarder came over and lent me one of his flippers and that made a difference. You are supposed to swim parallel to the shore and then back in when you break from the rip but you can easily panic as you get further away from the shore.

This is where knowledge is invaluable! What a brave kid! I suspect that there are plenty of warnings about rips and few heed them.
