Guts and Determination

Wil, from Paradise Driver, left a comment on yesterdays post asking how Sammy boy was getting on.

I rushed off to get this photo of him sitting next to his favourite gas vent.  Very optimistically, I might add, as it was a pleasant day and no need for the gas heater today.

However, he soon abandoned that and headed towards another favourite haunt and fortunately I was still armed with the camera.  I missed him prising open the linen cupboard with his paw but managed to get the ascent.

Not bad for a 14 year old cat.  Like his master, still managing to climb mountains.

How old does that make him in our years? I hope he can open the door from the inside if the door gets closed.

June – Around 80-90 years I think. Our first cat lived until 14 when his kidneys gave way which is common in cats. Sam is now drinking lots of water which is a sign of kidney failure but the vet thought they were okay. No way he could open the door if it was closed which happens occasionally but someone soon remembers.

Our cat Dizzy does the same thing when we forget to close the door. Then we close it not realising she’s in there and don’t find out till much later when she miaows to come out.

Steve – Maybe we should have called ours Dizzy too.

Let’s see you do that at 14!

Scott – My problem now is I’d have trouble squeezing into the top shelf

Go Sammy – he is certainly doing well! Must be because of all the love and attention he has had for so many years 🙂

Laura – Spoilt rotten you mean.

Quite the athlete! My last kitty DixieCat lived to be just over 19, she suffered from kidney failure in later years too, but was a lovely cat. She’s been gone for quite a few years now and I still miss her. No more cats now as DIL is horribly allergic and she’d never be able to come and visit with my grandson!
Just got back from holidays, posting lots of pics in the next few days….. of a part of canada that I know you haven’t visited.

Shammy – I’ve missed you. Looking forward to your report and photos. We’ve been west and east in Canada so test us out.
