Bring it on

Well the heavens delivered……………………

and we’ve had 17mm of slow, steady rain to date with more forecast over the next few days.

Other places got a lot more but beggars can’t be choosers.

We had 10mm before I emptied the gauge. We’ve had a downpour since then so it’ll be interesting how full it is in the morning!

That downpour and squall that you see in the video came in about 5pm and dumped another 7mm in our gauge. Our tank is full again.

I was fascinated with the huge water tanks in NZ and Aus when I visited. I think I’m going to install a water tank in my garden, just for watering the back yard in the summer.

Shammy – Tanks are very common here now and we have invested in a small 2500 litre one. Even though it has an electric pump which could empty it in 35 minutes, MP waters her valuable plants over summer with a bucket and it didn’t run out. We also have a couple of wheelie bins around to catch water from other areas of the roof.

Seen enough of that for a season, thank you very much.

    Bring on the swimming pools!

Scott – Don’t let us near your swimming pool with a hose and pump!

Your going to get lovely and green.Don’t you just love how it smells after the rain.

June – The grass is already turning green especially since the ground is still warm.

What a lovely rain, our house, being out in the sticks, uses only rain water, stored in 3x 5000 gallon tanks, and our garden uses bore water, our water tanks were so low, we were getting ready to put bore water in them (which is potable), but the rain has arrived at just the nick of time. It is so much ‘softer’ than bore water, we much prefer it.
