The aftermath of the bushfires has dominated this week and the latest shocking news is the 7500 homeless and the 189 dead, which undoubtable, is considerably more.  Unfortunately the fires were so intense there is nothing left of some people.

I’m moving on.  These two snaps of tonight’s sunset from the Dogbait Kennel symbolises that.  The smoke haze adds to the effect.

Good to see you back. I was starting to worry the fires might have been in your area.

Pretty sunset. Why does the sun in the picture to the right look less round than normal?

I’ve been in touch with all my Aussie rellies,… they are all some distance from the fire area execpt one in Ivanhoe. All are devastated by the news. I’ve been reading blogs and the news and it’s incredible how fast the fire jumped from one place to the next. Such a tragedy.
Lovely skies, but the beautiful colours are no doubt a reminder of what has occurred.

Steve – We’re about 2 hours away. On Ash Wednesday 1983, we could see the fires coming our way before a wind change halted the fire front.

Gabrielle – With fires still raging, we have a lot of smoke covering the State and the haze is distorting the sun.

Shammy – The other reminder is the smoke that is permeating through the house.

June – We’re well away from the fires but the constant smoke is a daily reminder.

Great to have you back, would you believe we have no smoke around at all, thanks to that wonderful, but unusual, east wind.
